Is It Better To Have Two Bengal Cats?

In this article we are going to look at whether or not it is better to have two Bengal cats.

You might already have one Bengal and be wondering if your current cat needs a feline friend/companion.

You might also be looking to get two cats at once, but aren’t sure if that’s a smart thing to do.

Let’s find out the the answer!

Is It Better To Have Two Bengal Cats Or One?

In our opinion, it isn’t any better to have two Bengal cats than one.

This is not to say that you cannot or should not have two Bengal cats. We also aren’t saying that having two Bengal cats is worse than just having one.

What we are saying is that you shouldn’t feel under pressure to have more than one Bengal cat.

For example, we have had readers come to us and worryingly say that they have been told it is cruel to only have one Bengal cat.

This simply isn’t true.

In fact, rushing out and getting two Bengal cats may not even be the best option for you.

Bear in mind that adult cats are fairly solitary, and are perfectly happy with nothing more than the company of their owners.

While cats can do very well in pairs, they equally do very well by themselves!

Age Matters

Another thing to consider if you do want to get two Bengal cats is age.

If you buy both cats at the same time as kittens, then this isn’t going to be an issue.

However, introducing a new Bengal kitten to a home with an existing cat is going to be more challenging.

It isn’t impossible, and is something that is done by many, but it is also something that you need to approach with caution and patience.

If you keep your Bengal fed, watered, and entertained with plenty of good toys (on that note, check out our guide here to the best toys for Bengal cats) and loving human company, then a solitary Bengal cat is going to do just fine.

Conclusion – Is It Better To Have Two Bengal Cats?

In our opinion, it isn’t necessarily better to have two Bengal cats. While having two Bengals might be a good way to keep each cat entertained, it isn’t necessary.

You also need to consider if you can truly commit to having two Bengals (one is quite a handful as it is – and not something to be undertaken lightly!)

Remember that two Bengals (or two of any cat for that matter) will cost you twice as much in vet bills, food, and many other costs. Depending on your living space, it may simply be too much to have two Bengals in your home.

If you do choose to have two Bengals, then make sure you give them plenty of good toys to play with (check out our guide here to the best toys for Bengal cats) and also make sure that you have the “litter situation” well sorted – this is absolutely critical.
